When the Canucks signed Samuelsson and traded for Ehrhoff in the offseason, they did more than plug gaping roster holes. They acquired players who arrived from winning organizations in Detroit and San Jose, respectively, franchises where the performance bar was set high. On an individual basis, Samuelsson and Ehrhoff had a reputation for supreme fitness and that dedication played out last fall as they topped training-camp testing. It also sent a ripple through the dressing room and that level of accountability is a credit to management seeking skill and substance to strengthen roster.
